We are tentatively scheduling the tournament for Sunday, 01/31/2010, however we’ll be making that call early Sunday morning on whether it will be on or off.

When the tournament is held (Sunday or next weekend) we will be starting at 3pm and going until 5pm. Please arrive promply at the start time. We want to make sure that the kids have enough time to get all 10 ends of 3 arrows.

REMINDER: To participate in this tournament, there is a $10 entrance fee per archer.

Tomorrow is the day for our 2nd Annual Charity Archery Tournament! Please come out, bring some cans of food and have a great time shooting archery, benefiting a great cause which is “The Place of Forsyth County”. The Place has a food bank that helps families in our community who are facing economic hardships. Won’t you help?

We’ve got a lot planned for tomorrow. We’ve got many fun stations including targets with candy, pumpkins to shoot at, 3D foam animal targets, and Flu-Flu arrows! Brand new for our club! In addition to these fun targets, we have “special prize” targets. We’ve got close to $1,000 worth of prizes donated this year and for an extra fee, you can shoot on the prize targets. We are offering shots on these targets for $1 and $5 each. Some of the prizes have a retail value of over $100! There will be a kids prize target where the kids can shoot until they win for the same $1 fee per arrow.

Thanksgiving Charity Tournament

The kids enjoyed the tournament atmosphere, shooting on targets, plus shooting on the 3D targets of two foam turkeys, two foam deer, and a wolverine. Sure it was a cold day, but that didn’t stop the smiles on the kids faces.

Archery tournament to benefit food pantry

The Cumming Archery Association is proud to hold it’s annual Christmas event on Sunday, December 7th at the Etowah Valley Sporting Clays Park in Dawsonville, GA. This event supports various local charities throughout Forsyth and Dawson County including the local Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program.
100% of all monies raised through tournament registration and donations go to these charities.

With your donation, your business can be featured on our website and welcome to hand out or post literature at the event (with prior approval). As in past years, we will be actively pursuing media coverage.

The GAA is hosting a fundraising tournament for members of the Georgia Archery Team will are going out for the World Indoor Team heading to Poland in March. If you are mailing your form: Pruitte’s Archery 6717 Green Plantation Road Harlem, Ga. 30814 Jim’s cell 706-564-5273 The fundraiser will be a Vegas 450 Round followed by an elimination round (to get to the “final 8″, then a “shoot up” round similar to what Lancaster Archery does at their indoor tournament. The interesting changes appear to be in conjunction with what is meant by a “Team”. I have heard some discussion on the Georgia 4-H rules in regards to team archery and I don’t believe that these changes will satisfy those people.

• Members of the State Winning (First Place) Team are ineligible to compete as team members in future years. This applies whether or not they compete in a national 4-H SAFE event. Team members may compete as individuals in contests and may be recognized as State Winners as High Individuals.
• State Winning High Individuals who are not members of the State Winning (First place) Team are permitted to compete in future years as either individuals or as team members.

On one hand, I understand that the rules appear to be preventative to keep one team from dominating year after year, however the other teams see this as punitive to the kids who have worked really hard to get to the level of archer that they are. I can see that this rule was created in the spirit of 4-H which is not exclusively in sport development, but in character development. However, I’m curious if this rule is in line with the rules of other states 4-H programs? I can see both sides of this argument.

4-H Archery Competition Rules

Just a reminder that we will be holding a Halloween Mini Tournament this weekend. We’ll be having targets at 30, 20, and 10 meter distances to match varying age levels and skill levels. There will be a couple of standard target faces, but we’ve got something special planned for the other target faces as well. Yes, it’ll be (almost) standard scoring for the tournament. There will be 9 ends of 3 arrows per end, or 27 arrows in total.

In addition to the mini-tournament, we’ll also have a pumpkin shoot. We’ll be providing fiberglass arrows for the shoot so you’re not gunking up your nice arrows. We’ll be providing the recurve bows for this shoot. The fiberglass arrows won’t be able to handle any high power bows.

Come on out for a great time this Saturday, October 25th. Setup starts at 2:30pm and we will have a short warm up session, and then the tournament will start at approximately 3:15pm.
