Located in Borrego Springs, California, the 42-acre property, which opens Thursday, November 6, offers 63 deluxe poolside rooms and casitas, an Olympic archery range and a $25 million, 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course.

Stanley Simaata
Did they apologize? or did they apologize “profusely”? We may never know. An administrative blunder in Namibia left their archers names off of the list for recognition in their country at an awards ceremony. Only politicians differentiate an apology and a profuse apology.

The chairman of the Namibia Sport Commission Stanley Simaata has refuted allegations that he “apologised profusely” to the president of the Archery Association of Namibia, Jan van Blerk at Friday’s Namibia Sport Awards.

Van Blerk made the statement at a press conference on Saturday, where he expressed his displeasure at the treatment that the four archery finalists received at the awards. The four archers were all amongst the finalists in their respective categories, but due to an administrative blunder by the Namibia Sport Commission, they were not called up on stage along with the other finalists.

This is a great video, well done at 25 minutes in length it really gives you an idea of the pressure at the World Cup.

This is a great, simple video to show the foundations of shooting a recurve bow. I teach a slight adjustment to the bow hand, but the fundamentals and purpose and results should be the same.

Continuing on with the high speed videos, this video shows an Olympic archer shooting an arrow and the huge horizontal flexing of that arrow during flight. Notice the flex of the arrow compared to the rate of spin as the fletchings take hold in the air. Amazing stuff.

The Archery Association of Namibia (AAN) has slammed the Namibia Sport Awards as ‘a joke’ after four of its archers, who became world champions this year were not amongst the finalists for the awards on Friday evening.
Senior archer Beatrix van der Merwe and juniors Hofmeyer van Blerk, Oliver Rohrmuller and Eunice Pieterse won gold medals in their categories at the World Field Archery Championships in Windhoek earlier this year, but were not recognised at the awards ceremony.

At a press conference on Saturday morning, the president of AAN Jan van Blerk accused the Namibia Sport Commission of incompetence, saying that it was totally unacceptable to them.

“For us this is totally unacceptable. If the Sport Commission don’t want to recognise us as a sport code then we will in future participate on our own without national colours. The medals that we win will then be ours and not the country’s,” he said.
