Hello Archers!

We’ve been working on a new program to be implemented in our archery club, called the ‘Archery Excellence’ program. We feel that our club members should be more well-rounded in their knowledge of archery and archery skills. So, without further ado, below is the overview of the Archery Excellence program.

Purpose:
To challenge our club members to grow not just in the skill of shooting the bow and arrow, but to learn more about the sport in its entirety. The Archery Experience levels are intended to become much more difficult and thus more prestigious and desired by the archers.

Achievement Levels:

Target Patch – Level 1 :: 3 page test on safety information

White Patch – Level 2 :: 3 page test on archery shot process

Blue Patch – Level 3 :: 1 on 1 shot making test with archery coach

Red Patch – Level 4 :: In depth paper on a prior approved topic by archery coaches

Yellow Patch – Level 5 :: Archery related presentation to the entire club on a prior approved topic separate from Level 4 paper.

As you can see, each level becomes more difficult. We anticipate that to achieve all of the levels, that it would take an archer several years. Do you have questions about the program? We’re here to help. Just ask one of the club coaches and we’ll do our best to answer your questions.

See you at practice!
- Coach Kevin Cully
Forsyth County Archery Club

At practices I’ve been telling our archers about a friend of mine, Lee Ford. Lee is a very inspiring woman that our entire club will be cheering on when she competes in the Paralympics in London.

Take a few minutes and get to know Ms. Ford from this piece from Fox 5 News Atlanta:

You’ll also notice in the video, Lee’s coach Jim White. Coach White provided the training for most of our coaches and is currently one of the coaches of the USA Archery Junior Dream Team.

Good luck in London, Lee! Go USA!

Hello Archers,

I hope everyone is safe and secure from the storms that roared through last night.

We have decided to hold practice and our mini-tournament this morning. Yes, it will be wet, and we may get a sprinkle, but I think we’re in the clear. Please dress warmly, in layers. Waterproof shoes, or a change of shoes, might be helpful.

To participate in this 4-H mail-in tournament, we required a registration. We have approximately 15 archers registered. The tournament will be 36 arrows at a single distance. Please allow extra time to complete the tournament as I expect we’ll finish around 1pm or so.

All other archers are welcome to come practice. Of course, we’ll be holding our beginner lessons as well.

We’ll see you at 10:30am!
