I am very proud of each and every one of our archers. We have come a long way as a team, and as individuals. I think all of the kids had a great time competing in the tournament and the results certainly showed it. Several of our archers posted their best score ever. I think I can speak for Coach Jeremy and say that we had a great time shooting as well. Congratulations to all of our shooters.

To the Georgia Archery Association, thank you for putting on a great tournament. We’ll see you next year.

I just registered myself and my two boys for the Archery tournament. If you register online, it appears as if there is a two dollar discount per adult to $21, and a one dollar discount per youth participant to $15. Did I mention that there is a t-shirt for every participant!

For more information, please visit the Georgia Games web site.

I believe that the tournament is at the same location as last weekends GAA JOAD Tournament. The facilities were nice, plenty of free parking, easy to get to. Register today!

It was a beautiful day for an archery tournament. I was especially happy about having my new Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS system to help me navigate to Conyers. Yes, I normally and commonly get lost.

We got there at about 8:30am and started helping to get set up. Shortly there after, the practice rounds started. The wind was going to be a factor. It was gusting up to about 20mph.

Logan was shooting at the 50, 40, and 30 meter distances. Griffin was shooting at 20,15, and 10 meter distances. It was impressive to see the equipment of the other archers. There were more compound shooters, but a really good number of recurve archers.

Logan started off a bit slow at the 50 meter range but picked it up at the shorter distances. He shot a 138 out of a possible 720 points. Griffin shot a 313 out of 720 points.

The boys said that they had a good time shooting. The Georgia games are only a couple of weeks away.

The Georgia Archery Association 2008 State JOAD Target Championship is to take place on June 28th in Conyers, Georgia. At the bottom of the registration form, it states that “NAA Dress Code is Required At All Times”. I wasn’t quite sure what that meant so I went to The US Archery : Dress Code page.

It turns out that the requirement is pretty easy to meet and is very reasonable. It states that khaki bottoms are to be worn. It can be slacks, shorts, skirts or whatever. Yes, it defines what khaki means. The only other restriction is that the length of the shorts or skirts must be past the finger tips of the wearer when held to the side. All of this, plus proper shoes should be worn. Pretty reasonable I think.

I hope to see you there in June. I’ve already sent in my registration form for my kids. Check out the Georgia Archery Association web site for more details.

Wow, it was hot. I believe it was 95 in the shade, but everyone had a great time. I am so proud and impressed by our archers. Each of them shot 90 arrows in the competition, and that doesn’t count the practice arrows. I’m seeing a lot of progress in their skills, but I’m also seeing good attitude and a camaraderie building within our team.

A big thank you goes to the Gainesville Archery club for putting on this great tournament. We’ll definitely be back in August for the night shoot.

Here are the results for our archers:

Adult Male Traditional - Kevin Cully :: 416-1
Young Adult Traditional - Caleb Williams :: 313-0
Young Adult Male Open - Logan Cully :: 134-0
Youth Open - Griffin Cully :: 376-1
Youth Recurve - Nikelas Kekel :: 589-3

Dear Coaches:

I hope that you will take the time to support the efforts of Jackson County 4-H’ers and coaches to raise money for this 4-H family that has faced so many hardships with the loss of our fellow 4-H Coach and his son. I have already registered myself and would like to challenge all 4-H coaches, regardless of discipline, to register as a “non-shooting participant” for the memorial tournament.

If you would like to register as a non-shooting participant, print the registration form, make a note on it that you won’t be shooting in the match and mail with your entry fee (donation) to the Jackson County 4-H Office. If you did not save the form that was emailed earlier, you may just mail a donation and designate as “Godfrey Family Memorial Tournament.”

And please, if your team can make it to the match, I very much encourage you to enter.

Lets show the Godfrey family how big a family they have in 4-H.

Registration Fees Donations should be mailed to:
Jackson County 4-H
PO Box 760
102 Cloverleaf Circle
Jefferson, GA 30549

Sincerely,
Chris Sagar
