I truly believe that we did a whole lot of good by collecting canned goods for the Concord Baptist Food Pantry. I think we collected about 100lbs of food for the Food Pantry.  Thanksgiving Charity Tournament The kids enjoyed the tournament atmosphere, shooting on targets, plus shooting on the 3D targets of two foam turkeys, two foam deer, and a wolverine. Sure it was a cold day, but that didn’t stop the smiles on the kids faces. This event supports various local charities throughout Forsyth and Dawson County including the local Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program. With your donation, your business can be featured on our website and welcome to hand out or post literature at the event (with prior approval). Thank you, [ Back to top ] I just received notification from the Georgia 4-H S.A.F.E. Coordinator, Mark Zeigler that some slight adjustments had been made to the S.A.F.E. competition. Most of the adjustments to the rules were minor and are shown in the Green font. The interesting changes appear to be in conjunction with what is meant by a “Team”. I have heard some discussion on the Georgia 4-H rules in regards to team archery and I don’t believe that these changes will satisfy those people.
On one hand, I understand that the rules appear to be preventative to keep one team from dominating year after year, however the other teams see this as punitive to the kids who have worked really hard to get to the level of archer that they are. I can see that this rule was created in the spirit of 4-H which is not exclusively in sport development, but in character development. However, I’m curious if this rule is in line with the rules of other states 4-H programs? I can see both sides of this argument. Read information about the rules here: [ Back to top ] Hello Friends of the Forsyth County Archery Club! Just a reminder that we will be holding a Halloween Mini Tournament this weekend. We’ll be having targets at 30, 20, and 10 meter distances to match varying age levels and skill levels. There will be a couple of standard target faces, but we’ve got something special planned for the other target faces as well. Yes, it’ll be (almost) standard scoring for the tournament. There will be 9 ends of 3 arrows per end, or 27 arrows in total. In addition to the mini-tournament, we’ll also have a pumpkin shoot. We’ll be providing fiberglass arrows for the shoot so you’re not gunking up your nice arrows. We’ll be providing the recurve bows for this shoot. The fiberglass arrows won’t be able to handle any high power bows. Come on out for a great time this Saturday, October 25th. Setup starts at 2:30pm and we will have a short warm up session, and then the tournament will start at approximately 3:15pm. We hope to see you there! [ Back to top ] The Forsyth County Archery Club competed in the Moonlight Madness 900 Archery Tournament this past Saturday, hosted by the Gainesville Archery Club. It was a great tournament, with a good amount of participation by our archers. Many were returning, others shooting for their first time. I must say that I was proud of each of our archers and I hope they are proud of themselves as well. [ Back to top ] Date: Saturday Aug 16th Come early and enjoy a FREE cookout at 5:00 pm. The 900 ROund wil consist of 15 ends of 6 arrows each, at 3 different distances, at a multi-colored 122cm single spot target face.
