Hello Archers,

We’ve checked the radar and we’ve checked with General Lee, the weather prognosticating groundhog from Atlanta. It looks like the rain will hold off this morning so … we’ll hold archery practice.

While the weatherman and a semi-subterranean rodent are not predicting rain, there still may be a stray shower. Please dress appropriately in layers with some sort of water resistant coat/jacket. If your coat is too bulky, just slip it off while on the shooting line and put it back on when done shooting.

REMINDER! Bring your $15 today to pay for the 4-H Indoor State Tournament. Cash or check. Correct change is appreciated.

We’ll see you on the field,
Coach Kevin Cully
Forsyth County Archery Club

[JOAD MAIL-IN TOURNAMENT]
Please register by Wed, Jan 25th for the mail in tournament. Cost is $10 per archer. Just email me and we’ll get you on the list. We will also be holding a JOAD pin shoot at the same time. Cost is $0 (free) for members of the club but you MUST register by Wednesday as well. If you don’t register, you aren’t allowed to participate in the tournament. It just takes an email. If you are one of the five that signed up at last practice, then you’re all set! Please allow extra time! We’ll be shooting until 2pm or so that day!

[PUTNAM COUNTY 4-H INDOOR TOURNAMENT]
The deadline is … today! Yikes. Visit our site and search for ‘putnam’ to find the tournament and pull up the flier. Call if you want to register and participate!

[AFTER PRACTICE POT LUCK]
One of our own archers, Sarah M., requested that we have a lunch after practice so … we’re totally going to do it. On Feb 11th, bring a dish to share and we’ll talk and get to know our fellow archers! Should be a blast!

[4-H STATE INDOOR TOURNAMENT]
For this tournament, you register through the club. Registration is $15 per archer to the club. You must register with the club by February 4th. Our club signs up as a team and we get assigned a time slot. There is 30 minutes for practice and then 2 hours for scoring rounds. This is a great tournament and I encourage all archers, experienced or new, to sign up for this tournament.

[GAA STATE JOAD INDOOR TOURNAMENT]
Sat, Feb 18th is the GAA State JOAD Indoor tournament. Deadline to register is Feb 11th. See our site for more details.

[GAA STATE INDOOR TOURNAMENT]
Sat, Feb 19th is the GAA State Indoor tournament. Deadline to register is Feb 11th. See our site for more details.

[USA ARCHERY INDOOR NATIONALS]
I don’t have many details for this tournament, but this may be an opportunity to see some of the best archers in the USA compete. Stay tuned for more details.

[COACHES TRAINING]
We’re always looking for adults enthusiastic to learn more about archery and to pass that information on to our additional members of the club. The training is held at Rock Eagle 4-H. 4-H pays for everything with the exception of the gas to get there, and your time. Lodging, meals, and the training costs are all covered. Email me if you have any questions. I promise you, that you’ll have a great time.

That’s it for now. Take care everyone, and lets hope for better weather next week so we can have archery practice.

Hello Archers,

We’ve been having rain today and it looks like it is going to be raining through tomorrow. We’re afraid that we’d be doing too much damage to the field getting our truck and trailer on and off of the field for setup, in addition to the cold and rain.

We’ll shoot in the cold, and we’ll shoot in the rain, but we won’t shoot in the cold and rain.

We welcome you to return to archery Jan 28th, 2012! Stay tuned for another posting about upcoming events and deadlines.

Hello Archers!

I can’t believe that our winter break is almost over! I hope had a great holiday season, and I hope your new year is treating you well.

The Forsyth County Archery Club resumes lessons and practice this Saturday starting at 10:30am and going until 12noon. Field setup begins at 10am. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town this weekend but I hope you come on by and learn more about archery from our 4 other USA Archery trained coaches! It looks like good weather (in the morning) for archery!

Hello Archers,

Today is Thanksgiving, and one of the things I’m giving thanks for is my archery family. It is my pleasure and my honor to call you my friends and my family. I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Here’s a slide show / video that I put together from the photos that Brent Weber took at the Archery Festival. What a beautiful day.

The updated numbers: You all raised over $3,795 for the Hunter Williams Trust Fund. Well done and a million thanks to all of the volunteers that helped make the Festival a success!

Get better Hunter! We’ll be waiting for your return to archery!

We’ll see you all starting back January 7, 2012.

We dedicated our 2011 Archery Festival to raise money for one of our own members … 12 year old Hunter Williams and the ‘Hunter Williams Special Needs Trust’. Get well soon Hunter and come back out to shoot some Archery with your friends from the club!

Many thanks to Brent Weber and Lori Kekel for videoing and editing this together for the club!
