Hello Archers!
Just a quick note about the Gainesville 900 Archery Tournament that is tonight. We welcome all team and club members to come out and join us. This tournament is very special to us as the Forsyth Archery Club has been working with the Gainesville Archery Club to arrange this tournament to be hosted here in Forsyth County. This will definitely be the closest archery tournament outside of our club mini-tournaments. Gainesville puts on a great, friendly tournament.
It looks like there may be some light rain tonight with the chance of heavier rain if there are thunderstorms. Please bring some extra clothes, perhaps some rain jackets and umbrellas in addition to the normal tournament items.
Take a look at the tournament packing list for items to bring:

Hello Archers!
I wanted to post an update about archery. As you know, tonight is practice! It is also going to be a warm one with temperatures in the 90s and the heat index close to 100F. Please make sure that your archers are getting enough liquids *before* and during archery practice. If the archer arrives to practice and/or a tournament dehydrated and then gets into that heat, the chance of heat stroke is greatly increased. Make sure they drink plenty of water before practice.
For another comfort tip, feel free to bring chairs to archery practice. Resting even for the few minutes in the shade of the trees before pulling arrows can really help rejuvenate the archers.

Hello Archers!
We are very excited about the archery tournament tomorrow. As I was saying at the practice, this tournament is a great tournament to get started with. Low pressure, coaches can coach and help the beginners, low cost, and as close of a tournament as we’re going to get! Plus, the people at the Gainesville Archery Club are really, really nice and good friends of our club.
I have contacted the Gainesville Archery Club, and they have agreed to set up a “Beginner” class for some of our new archers. What that means is if you are a beginner and would normally be shooting 50,40, and 30 meters, you will be able to shoot at 30,20, and 10 meters! I hope that this will help make a tournament more “approachable” for those archers on the fence on whether to come to the tournament or not. Please come!

We had a beautiful day in Gainesville a couple of weeks ago. Here are some of the photos. Thanks team! The archers did great!

I’d like to thank Lori Kekel for taking the photos of the tournament.
As you can see, the sky opened up on us several times. Eventually, the tournament had to be cancelled to due lightning and heavy rains. The Cloverleaf (youngest group) of archers pretty much finished their portion of the tournament. The senior recurve archers got through their FITA (target) tournament. The senior compound archers got part way through their FITA and part way through the 3D targets. The juniors, unfortunately didn’t really get to shoot because the rain came in the afternoon and was a wash out.
My thanks goes out to all of our parents for helping make this as good as it could be of a bad situation. Thank you to all of the 4-H staff and volunteers. Rain makes everything harder for a thankless job. But, to you, the Forsyth County Archery Club thanks you!!!
