We had a beautiful day in Gainesville a couple of weeks ago. Here are some of the photos. Thanks team! The archers did great!

I’d like to thank Lori Kekel for taking the photos of the tournament.

As you can see, the sky opened up on us several times. Eventually, the tournament had to be cancelled to due lightning and heavy rains. The Cloverleaf (youngest group) of archers pretty much finished their portion of the tournament. The senior recurve archers got through their FITA (target) tournament. The senior compound archers got part way through their FITA and part way through the 3D targets. The juniors, unfortunately didn’t really get to shoot because the rain came in the afternoon and was a wash out.

My thanks goes out to all of our parents for helping make this as good as it could be of a bad situation. Thank you to all of the 4-H staff and volunteers. Rain makes everything harder for a thankless job. But, to you, the Forsyth County Archery Club thanks you!!!

Want to be the best Junior US Archer. Then you’ve got to get to Iowa in June!

This tournament selects the JOAD National Outdoor Champions in each of the JOAD Disciplines and is needed by those archers who are vying for a spot on Jr. USAT. There will also be tryout for the Youth Olympic Game spots where one female and one male from the recurve discipline will travel to Singapore to compete on behalf of the USA at the first annual Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

Tournament Site:
Des Moines Waterworks – Google Coordinates 41.560948 93.676654
Cownie Soccer Complex – 2600 E. Hartford Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50320

I can honestly say that Iowa is a beautiful state. I know I would love to send a couple of our team archers. We’ll see if I can talk them into a trip.

The Arizona Cup started this past Thursday and it’s a flurry of archery activity at this international tournament.

Ellison started atop the standings, then fell to Kaminsky at the break after 36 arrows, with their scores only differing by one point during the see-saw competition. As the two stayed within one point of each other, Brady pulled away at the end, with his experience in desert conditions leading to the five-point difference at the end of the first 72 arrows.

It seems like the American archery market is innundated with Compound discussion and this is reflected in the discussions on archery forums such as http://www.archerytalk.com/

As a recurve archer, I have recently stumbled upon a great web forum with lots of recurve discussion. That web site is Archery Interchange UK. …( http://www.archery-interchange.com ) Lots of great recurve related discussion. Check them out!
