Hello Archers!

On November 21st, 2009 we are pleased to announce our “2nd Annual Thanksgiving Charity Shoot”!

Do you know that 1 in 8 families in the USA are having difficulties in putting food on their tables. Georgia is one of the 10 worst states in the USA based on hunger statistics. You can help. You can help people in our own community. Our entrance “fee” into our Thanksgiving Charity Shoot is just 5 cans of food for the kids, and 8 cans of food for adults. You can bring in the cans early, and we’ll get you signed up for the charity shoot! No need to wait until the day of the tournament! Don’t have time to get some cans of food? No problem. The entrance fee for kids is $5, and $10 for adults.

Why would our club, an organization that struggles to purchase equipment to help kids (and parents) learn archery, hold a charity tournament that benefits another organization, a food pantry? Because we’re hoping to teach our members more than just archery, but to teach them discipline, friendship, camaraderie, family and a bit about being a contributing member of society. Archery is just our vehicle to this end. Sneaky, aren’t we?!? Seriously, as the temperature gets lower, and the economy continues to sputter along, there are many families in Forsyth County and the area that struggle to get enough to eat, that worry where that next meal will come from. Won’t you be a small part of helping a family in that situation? This year our charity is “The Place” that passes out food to many worthy families in our community. Take a look at their web site here: http://www.theplaceofforsyth.com/

We need your help in other ways too! During the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Charity Shoot, we’re also hoping to have a special prize table. At this station kids and parents for a $1 fee, will be able to shoot on a target. If they shoot on a number, they’ll get the prize that corresponds to that number. The prize might be a good one (archery equipment, a flashlight, etc.) or it might be a “white elephant” gift (meant to be a funny gift) such as a plate of broccoli or perhaps a pet rock! If you, or your company, could donate some prizes for our table, that would be an awesome thing to help us raise funds for a good cause. We’ve already lined up some gifts from Timberghost (our local archery shop!), CULLY Technologies, LLC and others. Contact Ms. Allyne if you could donate something to the prize table! Let us know if you have any questions!

See you soon,
- Coach Kevin
