2nd Annual Charity Archery Tournament

2nd Annual Charity Archery Tournament

What a great day it was yesterday. The weather could not have been better! We were afraid it was going to rain, but it was all sun and warm weather. Certainly a perfect day to shoot on a variety of targets while gathering some food and raising some money for one of our local food banks, The Place of Forsyth County.

Here are the totals: We raised over 200lbs of food, and $367 in cash. This is twice the amount of food and four times the amount of money that we raised last year! It will be tough to top that for next year … but we’re sure going to try!

There are many people, families, and local companies to thank make our Charity Shoot a success. We’d like to thank our board of directors that work so hard year after year and reach out to businesses for donations. We have great support from businesses and individuals this year: Dan Murphy brought out extra targets for the shoot, Joe Schuster from the Cumming Archery Association who brought out a bunch of 3D targets including a target that was half wild boar and half antelope, Timberghost that donated a bunch of prizes, CULLY Technologies, Horse Authority, Cici’s Pizza, Pigtails & Crew Cuts, The Uhrich Family, The Hamp Phillips family, and many others that donated prizes. We had over $1,000 worth of prizes that could be won.

We had a great number of volunteers that worked extremely hard. We abused your help yesterday for that I’d like to extend our sincere gratitude. It is greatly appreciated.

To our team archers and club archers, please do not forget the homework that I’ve assigned to you. The homework is to do a random act of kindness to a neighbor that might need a little bit of help. Do you have a neighbor that is retired or perhaps out of work? You can sweep off their driveway or sidewalk, bring them some cookies or something else. Of course the best gift we can give to another is the gift of time. Spend some time with someone that might be a little lonely during the holiday season. Ask a retired neighbor “What is the most amazing that has happened in your life?” I’m sure it will be time well spent and that you will get as much out of that time as the person that tells you the story.

Thanks again to everyone that made our 2nd Annual Charity Shoot a success!
