USA Archery is looking to hire a contractor to fill a part-time JOAD Coordinator role. This position would be contracted for approximately 20 hours per week. Ideally this position would be filled by a person that is familiar with the JOAD program and is motivated to help grow the program by providing the energy, enthusiasm, determination, oversight and attention to detail that will make JOAD a competently managed program. It is USA Archery’s hope that this position grows into a full time JOAD coordinator position as funds increase.

I’m very proud of all of our archers. It was a beautiful day for a tournament. We didn’t have all of our archers due to spring break vacations and such, but those that went did really well. Take a look!

Miranda Leek aims to be there representing the United States in archery.

The Dowling Catholic High School sophomore travels across the country to compete nationally and has competed outside of the U.S. since taking up archery at age 5.

She most recently took home a first-place prize in the National Field Archery Association’s National Indoor Championships. She won the young adult female freestyle limited recurve/longbow division in Louisville, Ky., in mid-March, beating the record in her division by 32 points.

This is a reminder that we’ll be starting our new hours of practice this Saturday, starting at 6pm and going until 7pm for all club members.

We’ll be preparing for the Conyers Tournament the following weekend, “The Night The Lights Went On In Georgia”. Every club member is encouraged to attend the tournament as it will be an exciting challenge to shoot under the lights!

As always, if you have questions, contact Coach Kevin.

Loretta Sinclair continues to reach out to collegiate archers and is looking into expanding the focus of CAP to help gain more interest in archery at the college level.

One of our critical initiatives over the next few years is to increase CAP club membership. The CAP Executive Council has set a goal of reaching 300 registered clubs by December 2011. We’re off to a good start, between 1 January and 31 March, 14 new clubs were registered.

The Executive Council approved the College Basic Bow division in an effort to reach out to archers who currently do not participate because their equipment isn’t covered by our divisions. The College Basic Bow Division includes Genesis, traditional, and barebow archers. Tournament hosts are encouraged to use this division at local and state levels so that these college athletes can compete.

We have just started looking into the opportunities to hold 3D College Archery events. I know that there are many college archers who shoot 3D and I’ll keep you posted as we receive more information.

Just a quick reminder that there will *NOT* be practice this Saturday.

All members of the club are encouraged to participate in the Gainesville
Archery Club 900 tournament this Saturday. Practice times start at 11:00am but
every time that we’ve shown up at that time, people are already practicing so
feel free to arrive a bit early. The competition begins at 12:00pm.

The tournament is 15 ends of 6 arrows each, at 3 different distances, at a
multi-colored 122cm single spot target face. A 900 tournament will typically
take approximately 4 hours plus the practice hour. Price for the kids are $10
if under 18, and free if 8 and under.

I’ve developed a packing list to help me remember what to bring and I hope it
helps you out too:

Please let me know if you’ll be attending so we’ll be on the lookout for you!
