Ten students from the Holy Spirit Preparatory School’s archery team competed with over 70 other participants from Georgia and South Carolina in the Georgia Junior Olympic Archery Development State Indoor Shoot, Feb. 9 in Conyers.

The Cumbrian held off a rally from British No 1 Simon Terry to claim the title 118-117 for the first time, at Lilleshall.

“Simon is one of the best in the world, he’s brilliant,” said Wills. “If I can beat him, there’s no reason why I can’t beat anyone.

“I’m quite proud of myself, how things have gone over the last few months. It’s going in the right direction.

“I was one point ahead all the way in the final, and Simon put three 10s in to finish. I had to do the same with my last three to win and managed to clip the last arrow. It was quite intense.

“The 10 is about the size of a 10 pence piece and you have to hit it every time from 18 metres.

As the regional leader of the Easton Foundation national archery programs, the Manager will administer the Foundation programs to improve proficiency of archers at all levels, and insure consistency of the regional training and instruction with the USAA National Head Coach Resident Athlete Training programs and techniques.

Our coaches and the majority of our archers will be at the 4-H tournament this weekend, so there will not be any practice. We’ll pick it back up on March 7th. Hope to see you there!
