USA Archery was hinting that change was coming, and now the votes are in. While they accomplished their goals which were to make the competitions closer and more exciting, I’m now wondering if the “hit or miss” competition might be too simplistic to keep archery exciting to watch. Does what I said even make sense? People used to be able to move up the ranks by getting 4s, then 6s, then 7s and 8s. We’ll see. I’m all for change and I’m more than willing to see how this affects collegiate and USA archery as a whole.

James Madison University submitted two proposals to change the format of the USIAC/WUG team trials beginning in May 2009. Proposal 1 was to change the qualifying round from a FITA to a Double 70m round. Proposal 2 was to change from using the FITA target face to using the Academic target face (aka “hit/miss”) for the team round.

A motion was made to accept the proposed changes. After discussion, the Executive council requested input and comments from the CAP clubs.
