The Easton X10 arrow

Not only was every medal won with Easton X10, but, X10 is the dominating choice of athletes attending the games with 123 out of 128 athletes opting for the X10 barreled design for that extra edge needed to win.

Easton has always delivered world-class equipment for those whose passion for archery carries them to win at the highest level of competition. In addition, the Easton contingency program awarded $168,000 to the medallists in Beijing as well as a 2-year pro staff contract. With $400,000 in total 2008 contingency athletes are rewarded with more than higher scores by shooting accurate Easton arrows.

Minot’s Joey Hunt III, 16, is a senior in high school. He’s also a world champion, twice over.

Hunt defeated Luca Di Benadetto 117-110 in the final round to capture the gold medal in the Compound Cadet category at the 2008 Youth Archery World Championships in Antalya, Turkey this weekend.

Hunt survived a tough quarterfinal match early in the tournament, winning a three-arrow shootoff against Phillip Gower of Great Britain. In his semifinal, Hunt knocked off Tiftach Swery of New Zealand before facing Di Benedetto in the final.

Great job guys! I’ll do my best to find additional stories about the Youth Archery World Championships but it’s slim pickings, I’m afraid. We, as archers, need to do a better job of spreading the word about this great sport.

I have the question mark above because I can’t find any external verification of the result! I must say that I’m mad!!! The USA is reported to win a gold, by a British news blog, and there’s nothing reported in the American news centers?!? No blogs? I’m having trouble even finding the official web site of the Archery World Championships. Is archery in such a sad state that it can’t create a decent web site? Am I just overlooking it? Is this not a big deal?

USA, who defeated the British team in the semi-finals, took the gold medal when they beat Mexico in the final.

Why isn’t Mexico going wild for a Silver medal? I’m really confused. Someone please help me out by clarifying where the official results are posted.

I love these videos. It really gives a great sense to the training that these athletes go through, and also the pressure that they are under in the World Archery Championships.

Groundbreaking for Archery Center

Awesome! I can’t wait to take the couple hour drive down to Newberry and visit this facility which promises to be world class. The educational opportunities are very exciting, both for archers and coaches (like myself)!

“We are getting ready to spread our wings,” Ashby said.

The $4-million project is a joint effort between the city of Newberry and the Easton Sports Development Foundation, which is donating more than $1.5 million toward the project.

More than 100 people gathered to watch golden shovels scoop dirt out of the land, in a symbolic gesture marking the start of the archery center’s construction. An archery arrow was even shot into the ground. Doug Engh, director of the National Alliance for Development of Archery, shot the arrow as the shovels dug into the dirt. Engh has been working with the city and Easton for more than a year to help make the archery center a reality.
